FINLAND LOVES ME // SERIES OF PERFORMANCES BY JOSEF KA // SINCE 2019

Finland Loves Me

I have been living in Finland since 2017.
This long-term experience of residence, acceptance, and distance became the foundation of the video series Finland Loves Me.

The title and concept of the work refer to Joseph Beuys’ performance “I Like America and America Likes Me” (1974), in which love functions as an artistic and political gesture, and the relationship between the artist and a country becomes a space of tension, trust, and vulnerability.

The series consists of three interconnected parts, forming a single artistic statement:

  1. Decembrist Wife

  2. Outcast

  3. Dancing With Myself

All three works are linked through themes of belonging and exclusion, loyalty and solitude, inner resistance, and dialogue with territory.
The body appears here as archive, witness, and instrument.
