Sauna Gallery and Josef Ka are excited to introduce a new project series:
WHISPERS AND SCREAMS OF PERFORMANCE ART
featuring conversations with the established and emerging figures from the World of Performance Art.
🔴 The fifth episode released in March 2026
Invited Artist – Antoine Pickels, Belgian performance and live art pioneer curator educator and writer blurring theatre movement and experimental live practices. Founder of the Trouble Festival in Brussels championing emerging and avantgarde artists in socially engaged performance. Josef Ka interviews Antoine Pickels in her program – Whispers and Screams of Performance Art – exploring vision processes and the cutting edge of contemporary live art.
🔴 The sixth episode released in April 2026 Invited Artist – Alexandra Holownia, a Polish-born performance artist, activist, and interdisciplinary conceptual artist based in Berlin. She works across performance, costume sculpture, video, drawing, and text, with a strong focus on the body as both medium and message. Her practice centers on feminist discourse, gender politics, and the critique of patriarchal structures. A key element of her artistic language is provocation. She addresses taboos related to sexuality, particularly the representation of genitalia, using repetition, exaggeration, and symbolic forms. Her work advocates for women’s rights, sexual self-determination, and broader social tolerance. @alexandraholownia
🔴 THE SEVENTH EPISODE RELEASED IN APRIL 2026 Invited Artist – Hanna Hirst — an emerging artist working with sexuality, aging, and grief. She is 69, though she doesn’t identify with the category of “older person” in any conventional sense. Her work is strongly voice-driven: she talks a lot, fast, sharp, and with a spontaneous presence that can feel almost stand-up-like. But this isn’t comedy — it’s performance art, where speech itself becomes material and form. @hanna100project
